The Little People Of Appleton

So as they stopped to rest under the pretence of talking to Melrose their very good friend. The whole village swirled around Little One, Friend and Melrose. Because you see....Time was passing them by along with the window of opportunity.But as they stood engrossed in conversation they were blissfully unaware. And this would sadly not count in their favor.

It cant be! - exclaimed Melrose, How could the problem have gotten this far? I dont understaind why the elders could have let this problem become so big now we could loose everything we have always taken forgranted, the rain must keep falling.

But dont you see said Friend. We cant sit back and say its everyone elses fault because thats exactly what everyone else is doing.

Exactly! echoed Little One. This is as much our responsibility as the people who started the problem in the first place. We have to keep the rain falling, the rivers flowing the flowers in bloom and the trees bearing fruit.

Ok, I'll come with you said Melrose scratching his head but on one condition...

At this unexpected turn of events Friend and Little One both looked at him in disbelief.

Hang on said Little One, we werent even going to take you along in the first place.

Yes, this is bollocks agreed Friend we werent even going to take you.

But now we have to cut in Little One - as Friend here told you all about our mission to keep the rain falling, the trees bearing fruit, the rivers flowing and the flowers in bloom.

So they all set out to the town of Appleton*

*I'll explain when I decide why Appleton is so very very important to this story. But for now its that mysterious place with the cool name to all of us.)
